Birthday Party

Today we went to Parkersburg for Berkley Walters first birthday party.  We were an hour late getting there...it takes at least twice as long as I plan to get out the door with two kids.  Owen had so much fun playing at the park and with the other kids.  Below are a few pictures.

Finally a pic of Avery with her eyes open!

Trying to figure out how to get back up there...

Owen doesn't need the balloon...just the string will do

New baby, New house, New daycare

Avery has made it to week 3.  While she is oblivious to all that is changing around her, Owen has had a tough time.  He's not a big fan of change (he gets that from his dad).  Just after adjusting to having a sister, we moved to a new house that we are renting for the summer or until we find something to buy.  Owen also started in a new room at his daycare as he has grown out of the baby room and into the  1-year-old room.  We know that he will love it when he gets used to it.  They get to play outside, and have a lot more planned activities--and all of the other kids are about the same age.  Until he gets used to it, we are anticipating more clingy, whiny behaviors.

Grandma and Grandpa Beck visited last weekend.  We hope that Owen enjoyed it as it will probably be their last trip.  As hard as we worked them, I can't imagine that they would want to come back :)  They were a tremendous help with the move out of the condo and into the house.

Owen is a big fan of Grandpa.  He likes Grandma too, but I'm not sure that there is anyone else that Owen likes better than Grandpa.

Fun with Grandma too!  Owen really likes bubbles!

So much to share, so little time to blog

These days I have to modify most activities to do them with one hand as Avery likes to be held a lot during the day.  Lucky for me, she is a good night time sleeper.  Unfortunately, I have not been able to adapt to typing with one hand, so I have only posted pictures--no real updates on how life has changed in the past two weeks since Avery has joined us.

In addition to bringing Avery home two weeks ago, we also sold our house.  We will be renting a house for the summer so we are also in the process of moving and packing.  We will be completely out of our place in a week.  We are so fortunate to have great friends and family as we have received great support.

Owen has finally adjusted to having a sister.  He had a pretty hard time the first week.  He liked his sister, but was not happy with me.  He only wanted to be with Dad and wanted to be held all the time.  We are just getting over one transition and anticipate that we will experience this again with the move.

Owen has been excited and happy to be a brother--especially this past week.  He likes to touch her, kiss her and has even been caught holding her hand.  It's really sweet.  When Avery and I took him to daycare on Friday, he stood by her in her car seat while the teachers and other babies checked her out.  He looked so proud and was beaming.

Avery is starting to wake up.  I hope to share more soon.
